The Unity Rally has been a significant annual event in Greensburg since its inception in 1997, marking the formation of the Unity Coalition. This coalition emerged as a direct response to increasing Ku Klux Klan activities in Yukon, aiming to promote inclusivity and respect among diverse groups. The coalition’s first rally was organized to counter a KKK rally at the Westmoreland County Courthouse, serving as a powerful statement against hate and bigotry.
Over the years, the event has transformed into what is now known as the Unity Celebration. This celebration not only commemorates the coalition’s original mission but also emphasizes the importance of embracing and honoring our differences as a source of strength. The Unity Celebration seeks to foster a sense of community and solidarity among individuals from various backgrounds, highlighting how our unique identities collectively enhance our society.
